Vanessa WaddellApproachable, affordable, accessible online counsellingWelcome to my page! Perhaps you've been thinking about starting counselling for a while. I would encourage you to take the step and get in touch. It's undoubtedly scary to start talking about personal challenges, but like most counsellors, I know what it feels like to be a client as well and I will make the process of opening up as comfortable as it can be. I offer a warm, approachable, accepting and non-judgemental environment. Availability confirmed 6 days ago
About me and my practiceI've been in private practice since 2009 and in 2011, when we relocated for 6 months due to my husband's job, I rather abruptly had to start counselling online! It is now a large part of my private practice and has grown bigger since the pandemic. ExperienceIn addition to my private practice, I have worked with an employee assistance programme and the online service Xyla Digital Therapies which is part of NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). I also spent 2.5 years working as a staff counsellor for a government department. QualificationsI have an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) awarded by CPCAB. Prior to this, I did Volunteer Alcohol Counsellor Training and a Certificate in Christian Counselling. I have also completed The Foundation for Infant Loss Training and the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) Foundation Course in Infertility Counselling. I am an accredited registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I undertake regular Continuing Professional Development to refresh and enhance my skills. In recent years I have completed courses in written word therapy, Solution- Focused Brief Therapy, and online therapy. After this, if you decide you would like to work with me, I will suggest we have six sessions together. At the sixth session we review how your counselling is going and organise further sessions, if that is what you would like. FeesI choose to charge £50 for online sessions which is £5 less than my in-person rate. This is to recognise that I have fewer overheads online. When I WorkIf you are flexible I can normally fit you in and arrange sessions on a week by week basis according to our mutual availability.
